Dear Mr. Whalen:

The adjuster has made his final inspection of the work done by your crew at 148 Pachet Road in East Orleans. I have received a final check from Mass. Property Insurance for that work and have enclosed it, signed over to Whalen Restoration by me and my wife. It is enclosed.

I want to say that I think Whalen did an excellent overall job, and my wife and I were so pleased that we have already recommended your firm to our friends and neighbors in case they might have a similar problem. I also thank you for your personal attention, guidance and suggestions, which helped us greatly in getting through the problem from a considerable distance.

I would also like to particularly commend Jack Baylis, whose unflagging interest, suggestions, encouragement and overall initiative were invaluable throughout the whole process. Brian, your painter, did a truly marvelous job of painting, ably assisted by Rinaldo. Scott Marone and his cleanup crew also did a terrific cleanup job.

Finally, the men who did the floors (wooden and tile) had finished their work and departed by the time we arrived in East Orleans and I therefore didn't get their names, but they deserve credit for a really great job. A number of visitors to our house have asked to see the finished basement, and both my wife and I make sure to mention the name WHALEN prominently as we show it to them.

I hope, of course, never again to have to undergo an experience of this kind, but you and the whole Whalen crew made an unpleasant episode not only tolerable but something, in the long run, to be pleased about.

As a physician, I often meet people initially when things appear to be at their worst. Scared, confused, not comfortable with trusting themselves or their families with a stranger, my first job is not just diagnosing and treating the problem, but establishing a trusting and working relationship from the crisis to the cure.

In January,2011 I was called and told that a pipe and broken under the eave of the house, and despite dripping faucets and heat left on. Our house in Wellfleet was inundated with water. New to the role of the helpless and scared person , fortunately my caretaker told me to call Whalen Restoration for the immediate removal of water and damaged walls, ceilings and floors. Rarely have I been given some critical and perfect advice.

The house was purchased by my wife and I for our sons after many years of renting, and she created a home away from home , where the family would gather for holidays, birthdays and New Years. Losing her 3 years ago to a drunk driver made the house and its memories even more important to our family and friends. Today, it feels the same and looks even better than when it was on the house and garden tour for the Wellfleet Historical Society.  John, our foreman treated our home like his, making decisions long distance and in person easy. His suggestions always proved correct, and he and Mr Whalen had the house ready on time for the charity auction winners who use it when we are not present.

I am not sure that the disaster that befell my home could be considered a pleasure or a unique opportunity, but I would urge anyone who needs their help, for any of their services to employ Whalen Restoration. They were skilled and competent, but caring and totally honest. To us, they were a blessing, and John feels more like a friend than the man who rebuilt our home.

Dear Bill,
It is important as a property owner or manager to hope for the best, but plan for the worst. However, no amount of planning can prevent every emergency – in our case it was a frozen and cracked sprinkler pipe cascading water through four floors of apartments in the middle of the day on a Saturday. While our staff was able to respond, shut off the water flow, and work to relocate the tenants of the 24 affected apartments, it was our phone call to Whalen Restoration that made the greatest difference.
You had a significant amount of personnel and equipment on site quickly to combat a large scale emergency. This quick response prevented further damage to our property, saved the belongings of many of our tenants, and started the restoration process. Further confirmation that calling Whalen Restoration was the right choice happened the following Monday when our insurance adjuster arrived. It turned out that he had experience with you on previous insurance claims and had complete confidence in your work, integrity, and professionalism. Even though over half of the units had to be taken down to their studs and the rest suffered significant damage, he was able to complete his work in less than half a day, and our insurance company was able to give us the go ahead for the extensive rehabilitation our building needed. The coordination between our insurance company, Whalen, and ourselves continued throughout the process and was never an impediment to getting our apartments rebuilt. We were able to have everyone back in their apartments less than four months after the pipe burst, a true testament to your company.
Thank you for the exceptional work your company did for us. It is rare in life that one faces the significant challenge of a fire, flood, or other catastrophe to their property – but when it happens it brings uncertainty, heartache, and distress. If at that critical moment one makes Whalen Restoration their first call as we did, they will have made the best possible choice towards getting on the path to recovery.       A couple of weeks have passed since the fire and thanks in great part to you and your team things are completely back to normal. It's never easy to deal with the crisis associated with a fire especially in the peak of season going into an extremely busy weekend. It looked by all accounts that we were going to be out of service for three to five weeks, and three days later through an incredible effort led by you and your amazing team it was business as usual.

      I literally called you while the fire was still blazing and your team showed up within hours with a full crew to do whatever it took to meet our needs. They worked tirelessly throughout the weekend in a carefully coordinated effort with a multitude of vendors to develop and execute an outstanding plan. You gave comfort to our insurance company, the local town inspectors, as well as our entire management team letting us know that you were here to meet our needs.

      The resort was at full capacity and we had a very high profile wedding during the weekend. Our guests barely knew there was an incident. It's rare in this day and age to find such a sincere commitment and willingness to do whatever it takes to get it done. It is also worth noting that this is not the first fire you helped us with and it's clear now that your recent efforts were not an aberration, but instead common practice.

      Your entire staff was exemplary; always kind and courteous while displaying complete professionalism at all times. I simply can't thank you enough and I sincerely want you to know how much we appreciate your efforts. I suppose it's ironic that I'm not inclined to say that I hope to work with you again; however, please know if needed you will be my first call.

The Yarmouth Food Pantry, an official partner of the Greater Boston Food Bank, was formed in August of 2010 to help meet the growing needs of folks struggling to make ends meet. We started serving just 6 families. As of June 30 we have 2,035 households registered, consisting of 4,410 individuals. The Pantry is staffed completely by volunteers, who, like you, feel the necessity to help our neighbors in their time of need by offering a local outlet for free nutritious food.

We can't thank you enough for the services we received after our freeze loss this February. Your teams were professional, courteous, and responsive. From the moment we contact Whalen and worked with Mike Raymond, then John Baylis, as well as Bill Whalen and everyone in the office, things started to happen. Since we were not at the property at the time, Mike and then John sent photos and telephoned us frequently with updates and progress. The repairs were done expertly and in a timely fashion. The new hardwood floors and refinished existing floors, as well as the repairs done to the walls and garage and basement floor turned out beautifully. We are also immensely grateful that you were able to come back and finish up the basement floor (after we had eradicated a water issue) before we were arriving for our vacation, just prior to welcoming tenants for the upcoming rental season. All in all, the restoration experience was relatively painless, thanks to Whalen Restorations. And our home has never looked better!!

Good Morning, Bill. I wanted to take a moment to communicate to you what a pleasure it was to work with Whalen on our mold remediation project. Pleasure is an unlikely noun to use in conjunction with the havoc wreaked on a home for weeks during remediation, but your team was top- notch and made it as painless as possible. 

From my initial dealings with Mary, who suggested using/ provided contact information for Nauset Environmental to test our air quality and make recommendations prior to beginning Whalen's SOW, to Glenn's excellent and thorough direction as Project Manager, right down to your employees who spent HOURS in our small home, with two large dogs, everyone was personable, neat, circumspect and dedicated. Everyone was kind to and careful of our puppy and aging dog and during demolition Jason even cleaned up a "present" one dog left for me so that I came home to a clean carpet in lieu of a mess as he had carpet cleaner in his truck! 

In Glenn you have a humble listener who thinks ahead to reserve certain Whalen teams for future needs- acting versus reacting. He was responsive and easy to work with in person, on the phone and via email. 

Jason Cullity goes the proverbial "extra mile" to assist on other issues in the home that may need attention- carefully listening then appropriately responding. I had him look at our kitchen wood flooring which had been damaged. Due to the cost of replacing the entire floor he suggested that we might use a medallion in this area instead. When Jason learned that we are going to remodel the kitchen, expanding our home, in the next year or two he simply suggested buying a rug versus working on the floor. That type of candor is rare. His easy to deal with personality and cost- effective suggestions led us to say "yes" when he asked if Whalen could bid on our expansion. We look forward to learning what Jason will bring to the table as we consolidate to one home, on the Cape. 

I'd like to acknowledge the entire team who remediated, then restored, our beloved Cape home and hope that this letter will brightly reflect on their value to your company.

You and your staff were always professional, attentive and also honest with your opinions regarding our own ideas and we truly appreciate that. We cannot say enough about how wonderful your staff has been to us. We would like to thank Mary for kindly responding to our calls/emails and for conveying our messages to your team. We can’t thank John enough for his expertise and attention to detail, as well as his patience and frequent communication with us throughout the entire project. We want to thank Jose for his ideas and beautiful craftmanship and carpentry. "After he got here I knew everything was in good hands"

Dear Mr. Whalen,

This is a "looong" over due note. On Nov. 2, 2014 on a Sunday at 7am, went to go down our cellar to find 3 to 4 inches of water all over. Had no idea where it came from. Found the water coming from a part on top of the furnace. I shut the main water supply off and called your number.
Greg Martin answered right away. I called South Shore, which was not easy. Another story. He said a crew would be here within an hour., then asked about my insurance. I was trying to read it, when he said he lived not far from us and offered to come over. He came right over.
Greg was wonderful. This was a first for me and it was overwhelming not knowing what to do. My husband is 89 years old and not in the best of health so I didn't want him to see until I found some help.
I can not say enough good about Greg. After he got here i knew everything was in good hands. He gave me his cell phone and said to call him anytime. He asswered right away most of the time. If not When I left a message he called right back. The other people were also very helpful. I should write this over but if I do it will never get mailed.
When Greg came the last day I said to him the company was very lucky to have him. His reply was he was the fortunate one as you and your wife were wonderful people. So thank him for me. Again please excuse the scribble. Just could not seem to get to do this but wanted you to know how helpful he was and how much I appreciate it. Thank Greg for me.

Dear Bill,
It was good to see you today, although I could have lived without the circumstances. The fire in our 704 Main Street building is the second we have experienced, not to mention the flood created by a two-year old who at midnight was going to help mommy with the dishes. He proceeded to stopper the sink, turn on the water, and went back to bed. The resulting flood was one of the smaller jobs Whalen Restoration has done for us.
But as I went through the building last night and watched your staff react to the situation I was grateful we had made the connection with you and your company four years ago. I was amazed to find so many of your staff on the site and working when I arrived at 10:30 P.M. I was truly impressed by the advanced procedures your company has adopted and the new equipment you have invested in to reduce costs, speed the restoration, and get folks back into their units as soon as possible. I would think the insurance adjusters would appreciate it as much as I do. I told one of my staff how fortunate we were to have Whalen Restoration so readily available at a time of such great stress and disruption.
My experience with the relationship between Whalen and the insurance adjusters resulting from our first fire demonstrated to me just how respected your company is by the insurance industry (at least my company and their adjusters). It also demonstrated how much of a difference that respect had on getting the case settled and closed for us. This was all accomplished while your company stood firm for what was rightfully a fire expense and insisted on payment being made by the insurance company.
I would highly recommend Whalen Restoration Services, Inc. to any company or individual in need of restoration services. I would especially recommend Whalen in cases where an immediate and very competent response is needed.

I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you how genuinely pleased I am with the work done by your team!  As you well know, this has been a stressful 3 months and they have been ones that I hope to never repeat; Jim was just terrific in managing the project and my expectations.  I think he knew just how to handle me and all the other egos involved - not an easy juggling act when the focus should be on the actual work!  I was blown away when I returned on Friday - everything looked amazing and even better than when I first bought the place.  I am glad we decided to do all the floors and all of the painting - would have kicked myself otherwise.

Since I returned there have been several who have been over and have been equally blown away - the one that made the greatest impression was my regular housekeeper.  I had been warning her for weeks that I expected extra work this first cleaning; she couldn't believe how little there was to do!
After hearing all of the work that Glen had done prior to the move and on the moving day, I shouldn't have been so surprised.  Like Jim, it is obvious that he takes great pride in his work and that is ultimately a reflection on your company as a whole.  You should feel proud that you are so well represented in the field.

Professionally, I hope our paths never again cross - at least for unplanned work :-)  Once I settle back in, I will have to review your "routine"
services to see what/how I can take advantage.  If you should ever need a reference or referral, I will be more than happy to oblige.

A house fire is a calamity at any age and at my age of 91 it initially seemed overwhelming. Thanks to Mr. Whalen and his Whalen Restoration Company it has been a pleasure and a beautiful success.

His scheduling has always been timely and at my convenience. His crew of men is a credit to each and to his business. The need to move my years of collecting knick knacks wa greatly respected and everything returned to its original place. During the early morning hours of Thursday, July 19, 2001 Theatre Market Place in the center of Dennis village, next to the Dennis Post Office and Cape Playhouse caught fire and the complete mid section second floor of the building was destroyed by flames reaching 50 feet in the air causing $500,000 damage.
 Bill Whalen of Whalen Restoration Services was contracted the following day to proceed with cleanup and repairs and they immediately began. Law enforcement and the many insurance investigators did not grant release of the premises for repair until Monday, August 13. Two days later with heavy equipment they had removed the burned walls, roof and interior with the second floor being the highest part remaining. By mid September the entire exterior of the damaged building had been completely rebuilt with only the exterior panting unfinished. By Christmas all of the disrupted first floor tenants were returning and the end of January the entire reconstruction had been completed and ready for occupancy.
We found their workmanship and materials to be the very best. The dispatch in which Whalen Restoration Services proceeded was surpassed only by the quality of their work! It is amazing that during the entire period not a single disagreement had occurred!
Without reservation, the owners and tenants join together to say thank you Whalen Restoration Services for outstanding quality and efficient service!

I want to thank you and your terrific team for all the excellent services provided to restore our home’s lower level after the flood disaster on April 3.
From the very beginning your team was on site within a a coupe of hours and worked efficiently and professionally to clean up and restore our home in time for our rental season.
Everyone, from Greg to Steve, Ron and Jamie were awesome, and so attentive to details, plus being genuinely nice people to work with...you included!  The quality of the work is outstanding and all was completed on time.

Dear Bill,

My beloved home was completely rebuilt by the amazing Whalen Restoration team after a devasting fire which destroyed  my house and very nearly everything I owned.

I hardly know where to begin with my praise and gratitude  for all they did from day one of Emergency Boarding Up of the house, during the delicate  and highly detailed interior  and exterior  sifting and cleanup process of my possessions, waiting for the first Insurance check  and on and on until my house was totally reconstructed and simply gorgeous and all new!!!!!

As promised, from the day reconstruction began there were 2-7 vehicles at my site every work day until the re-construction was completed.   I stopped in nearly every day and was always  respectfully greeted by a happy group of  the nicest and most hardworking  and talented guys who gave me daily updates.   Each member of the team was an expert at what he did  and took great pride in his work.  Those qualities are so important.     My neighbors were also very impressed with the conduct of all who worked on my house and the courtesy shown to them.

Paul Dionne was my head contractor and he answered his cell phone every time I called him and was most patient with all my concerns and questions.  We even had fun shopping together for all the floor coverings, tiles, appliances, designing the new kitchen and bathrooms.  His expertise was invaluable to me throughout the rebuild process.

I couldn't be happier with my new fabulous home.  Every guest comments on the top quality workmanship and products they see.  It's beautiful!!!!!

I just wanted to let you know what an outstanding job all of your people have done in response to my water leak and resulting issues.  From the first phone call, everyone has been informative and most pleasant.  Jonathan and Tim handled the mold and drying situation and Stephan and Kevin the reconstruction.  They called to let me know arrival times and either showed up right on time or called to let me know of changes.  My house was put back together and very clean when all was done.  They could not have been more helpful!
There are other people involved, whose names I did not write down, but everyone did a super job.  I will make sure to pass this along as I would happily recommend Whalen to anyone in a similar situation.  I wanted you to know!!

 We feel compelled to write a note of thanks to you and your staff for the excellent job you did in remediation the water damage done to our home last November. We arrived home at 9 pm on a Saturday night after being away for a week during the Thanksgiving holiday. To our surprise and dismay, we found a significant portion of our house flooded due to a broken pipe that had sent hot water spewing into our bathroom for several days.

 We weren't sure exactly what to do, especially since it was so late on a weekend evening. Fortunately, however, the name "Whalen" came to mind from seeing your trucks and TV ads. We placed a call to your emergency number and were surprised to find someone "live and in person" on the other end. Right from the start your responder was understanding and reassuring. He offered to send out a team immediately even though it was getting to be quite late. We couldn't have been more impressed with your emergency remediation team. To a man, they were efficient, polite, sympathetic, and extremely competent.

 After the emergency services were complete and the house dried out, your foreman asked if we would like to have Whalen do the reconstruction or choose someone else. Our insurance company told us that you were a "preferred" specialist, and in view of the excellent work you had already done, we of course said yes!

 We certainly made the right decision because your work was excellent! Every tradesman was a pro and all the work was done carefully, expertly, with attention to detail and excellent coordination. But what impressed us most of all was how every person we dealt with at Whalen - from Mike to John to all of the tradesmen - was so considerate of us, so cooperative, and so respectful of our home. We can't thank you all enough.

Dear Bill,

I am writing to thank you for the fine work that you and your teams did on reconstructing our home in Wellfleet after the brutal winter of 2015. As you know, we sustained substantial damage from water due to frozen pipes. We very quickly found that not only were the floors, walls and ceilings of our home severely damaged, but within a week of the damage a terrible black mold began to spread. Your demolition team came in and saved the day. Very quickly the sheet rock was taken down and our belongings were put into storage. The crew that worked was both skillful and compassionate.  

Not only that, but your company worked carefully with our insurance company and helped us to obtain appropriate compensation for the damage our home had suffered.

After the demolition the reconstruction began. It was a long, arduous and sometimes frustrating process, but always, always your crew – the carpenters, the sheetrock specialists, the electrician, the lumber and the painters – worked with amazing competency and courtesy. They are problem-solvers; they are meticulous, and they were a joy to have working in our home. In fact I miss them!

Likewise the work on repairing the kitchen and replacing the warped counter-tops was done beautifully and carefully. At every step of the way the kitchen crew cleaned up and made the house as livable as it could be during such a disruptive process.

And at your central offices your staff always answered the phone with a human voice. I appreciated that very much – as well as their willingness to try and answer my questions.

In short, you have an amazing group of folks in your tent, and they and you should all be exceedingly proud of the fine work that they do under your expert supervision. No one wants to have a messy, upsetting, expensive and completely unexpected disaster in their home, but if they do, they should turn to your fine company. We consider ourselves lucky to have found you when we did.

With her house being very recently completely remodeled, a disaster of this magnitude was both unexpected and very scary to us. Water was everywhere, raining from the ceiling in the bedroom, pooling on the brand-new hardwood floors, and flowing into the hall and dining/living area. In the basement, water was coming through the ceiling and collecting in large puddles on the cement, soaking everything in its path. This was basically a new house, occupied for less than a year. We were devastated.

You and your team got right to work. You immediately took care of dealing with the insurance company and began efforts to stabilize the situation on day one. In the weeks that followed, your team came in and worked around our schedule. Every single employee that entered the house was compassionate and willing to answer any questions or concerns we might have.

Your expert project management skills came into play as demolition and then construction moved along. Both your in-house craftsmen as well as 3rd party contractors worked efficiently and professionally together to get the job done as fast as possible, but without cutting any corners or lacking in workmanship.

My wife and I took some family members out for dinner early last December following a successful and demanding day of gathering leaves from our property. Upon our return home just two hours later, we found that water had been released onto our back hallway floor due to a malfunctioning valve which controlled the water flow to our washing machine. The washer was not in use that day. Water spread to the kitcen, dining room and, via air ducts in our floor, to our fully finished lower home level. It was just two and one half weeks before we were to leave on a ten week trip which would begin with two deparate Christmas visits to two elderly siblings not seen in several years.

Whalen Restoration Services, Inc. had previously performed magnificently for another sibling in Chatham whose home suffered similar damage when a hot water heater failed several years earlier. We called your company, and your team went to work immediately. They understood the obvious personal stress we were under; they explained the coordinated work schedule they contemplated; they explained how our relocation to other quarters would be necessary and helpful to do so as soon as possible considering our desired time constraints. We were ready, and your team was ready to get moving!

Whalen's several efficient teams came and went; we were in a nearby motel for two weeks, but we were briefed daily. It was very impressive to watch your teams work like clock components. Two days before our plannned departure, your project manager advised us that we could be back  in our home at day's end. We slept well, packed bags the next day for our trip, left on time, and came home yesterday to a perfectly restored home. In over fifty years of insurance coverage for such unforeseen damage, this was our first ever claim. Your company and our USAA coverage made it all end happily. Thank you, Bill Whalen!

In the better late than never category>>>

Like most people who get news that their home is flooded I thought to myself, "How am I going to do this?" I got a call later in the day from the Wellfleet fire department telling me that the house was secured and that I should call a restoration company as soon as possible. They gave me two names and I called Whalen Restoration Services in Dennis, MA. It was Sunday, and I was driving back to Bedford, VA from a Memorial Day trip to DC with my son and his wife. I got Jim Ellis on the phone who said he would take care of the emergency situation right now and get back to me with more details. Within a couple of hours Jim got back to me and told me that he had two men on the job who would start the process of pumping out the water and drying out the basement (on Sunday? Yes on Sunday). Since I am a praying man I thanked God for connecting me to such a seemingly competent guy. Little did I know.

I returned to Wellfleet a few days later to survey the damage. It was a total loss. Over the next weeks and months Whalen Restoration Services, under the excellent management of Jim Ellis and a top notch crew of demolition people and builders, cleaned out and inventoried all the furnishings in the basement, tore out all the wet walls and floors, dried out the basement, and coached me through the complete restoration of my house.

The basement before the flood was fully finished and I was able to work out a restoration plan with Whalen Restoration Services that allowed me to make some minor adjustments to the floor plan resulting in the space being better laid out and more functional than ever. Each step along the way Jim and his team continued to communicate with me on their progress, consulting with me on options for finish items like floor tile color, trim and paint color, door placement, and other small details that turned a functional basement into an awesome basement. I couldn't be more pleased with the way it all turned out. The quality of service and workmanship from day one to the final sign off was world class.

I wanted to take a moment to say what an incredibly positive experience we had working with Whalen Restoration Services.  I interviewed a few different cleaning companies initially and chose your company based on the honest and pleasant interaction I had with Mike Raymond.  I liked that Mike was so personable and direct in his communications.  He described what sets your company apart from others and he described the overall cleaning process. It was clear to me that Mike would make sure that everything was handled correctly and it was!

I liked the fact that your company has many long term employees and that it seems like a family.  Todd LeMay was extremely helpful to me on the first day of cleaning when he helped me overcome the emotional side of this process.  It’s a difficult thing to suddenly have new people come into your home who will become very intimate with everything in it.  But instead of trying to brush off my concerns, he acknowledged my feelings and he took the time to assure me that I could feel “safe.”

And our home was safe.  Jake and Philip, who were the main workers on the job, were amazing.  They are genuinely courteous and conscientious.  To me that was just as important as the cleaning job that they did.  Ad the cleaning they did was A+.  Everything was cleaned meticulously and put away the way it was found.  I was in awe of their professionalism.

Scott did a wonderful job with the painting, making sure it was done correctly.  And all my interactions with Kathleen on the phone were very professional and pleasant.

Overall, I would like to thank your whole team for such a great experience, especially during circumstances that were difficult for our family to go through.  You have an amazing group of employees.  They really care about doing their best and it shows!  They left me saying “Wow!”  And I can assure you that if I am ever in a position to recommend your company I certainly will!

To whom it may concern:

If you're reading this, you're probably in a similar position that I was in late January, 2010 on a Friday night when I visited my house in East Dennis and found the pipes had burst on the second floor and the water had been running for weeks.

I called Whalen Restoration and they had a crew there within an hour to do the emergency work, which was so extensive they had a second crew there an hour later.

They had a crew there the next day cleaning up, and I met with Bill Whalen to discuss restoration and how to deal with the insurance company. He walked through the house with me and evaluated the damage, and gave me clear feedback on what I could expect to be covered by the insurance company. I planned to get a few contractors to quote on the project, and I spoke with my realtor and he gave a strong reference for using Whalen for both the emergency work and the restoration.

Bill and I met with the insurance company early that Sunday morning, and Bill aggressively represented my interests to the appraiser. Whalen documented the damage and created a detailed spreadsheet of the damage and the estimated costs to repair it, and negotiated with the insurance company, which wound up agreeing to virtually all of the coverage we requested.

I was very happy with the emergency work and with the support in finalizing compensation numbers with the insurance company, and I negotiated a restoration contract with Bill. I did not get competitive quotes because I think Bill gave me a fair deal and I doubt anyone else could have done the work in the tight timeframe. I wanted to move my family there for the summer, and Bill agreed to shoot for completion late June.

Once I got the checks from the insurance company, I signed the contract and Whalen had a crew in there within a couple of days. Seven of the nine rooms were pretty much gutted down to the studs, and Whalen had workers in there every day until completion end of June. On some days, there were over a dozen workers in the house.

Whalen Restoration finished the project on schedule and only slightly over budget. We did some major upgrades to the house, and Bill and his team made recommendations for improvements, and we agreed to virtually all of them--and we're glad we did. The quality of the work was excellent, and the team working on the project was professional. They followed through on every commitment they made, and all of the workers were friendly, articulate and proud of their good work. Whalen has a stable workforce of hard-working professionals, and I enjoyed working with all of them. We're thrilled with the craftsmanship throughout the project, and Paul the foreman was always available to answer any of our questions or to help us make quick decisions so we could stay on schedule.

Dear Bill,

We were pleased with the mitigation and restoration of our home after severe water damage beginning Dec. 28, 2015 and ending eight months later.  Within an hour of our call for help your crew quickly came in with fans, pumps, strength and EXPERIENCE to tackle the mess to our first floor, basement and garage.  The supervisor of this crew, Glenn, was there several times a day; the men wasted no time completing Step #1.  Each man was concerned about our loss and quietly went to work. Every item to be saved was individually wrapped before putting in  the large storage pod in our driveway.

In retrospect, we appreciate the process Whalen Restoration Company took dealing with the insurance company to arrive at a realistic cost of replacement for each specific job.  What seemed like a slow start was actually to our benefit; the figure finally agreed upon fully covered our replacement and losses.

There were many damaged areas that had to be completed.  The work done by the Whalen crew was exceptional.  Friends and neighbors commented on the numerous vehicles that arrived to work – the “white fleet”.  Workshops on wheels!  To a man, each remarked how much he enjoyed coming to work and the results of their labor demonstrated it.  John Baylis kept us up to date on the work being done and frequently checked in on the progress… no doubt a thankless job.  The men were polite, considerate of our property, soft-spoken, capable and personable—a mirror of Whalen’s training and expectations.

Dear Bill,
During the dinner hour on Friday evening, June 29 a teenaged male crashed his truck thru the “Fin” Restaurant located in my Theatre Market Place, complex on Route 6A in Dennis village. Your project manager, John Baylis passing by at the time stopped in and introduced himself and offered your company’s services. Having memory of the superb work you did for me following my $500,000 fire in 2001, I immediately contracted with him on the spot.
While the truck remained stuck in my building you quickly mobilized your people temporarily secured the structural integrity of my 1700’s vintage building allowing the removal of the vehicle securing it to the weather, working until 1 AM the next morning. During the following days you removed all the debris, reconstructed the missing walls & corner and replaced the demolished front door, window and step and thoroughly cleaned the entire premises. “Fin” Restaurant reopened the following Tuesday evening, just 4 days later as the newly installed plaster was still drying!
Since the 1960’s thru the 1990’s in my business I constructed of 350 homes in the Midcape area plus many commercial buildings and complexes some of which I still own. I know quality work and I find the genuine quality in your work to be excellent! The dispatch in which your Whalen Restoration Services proceeded was surpassed only by this quality of your work! I would highly recommend this restoration service. Bill Whalen is well respected by his staff. Though it took over a year, the final product was worth the wait. Excellent workmanship inside and out - and using this opportunity for upgrades. John Baylis oversaw the total gut rehab project from start to finish with a wonderful cheerfulness. Greg Martin made my life easier by helping me sort through my life's accumulation after the devastating house fire. We laughed so hard when I labeled the box "dirty books" - he changed it to "sooty". All Whalen's workers were expert, respectful and kind (Charlie was sweet). Ron Lindholm, Art Rescue in Dennis, did an exceptional job on restoring my antique oil paintings and the very charred "Old Lady" picture/trophy from the Orleans Yacht Club. But I saved the best for last. Jose is an amazing craftsman, a true artisan. Thank you all December 1, 2015 to the present.

Dear Bill,

            It is a pleasure to stand as a reference for Whalen Restoration Services.

            Following a major residential fire my wife and I faced many issues including decisions that had to be made quickly.  We had no knowledge of where or how to begin.  After discussions with several companies that offered similar services we decided Whalen Restoration should begin at least securing our property.  After educating ourselves about the daunting task of rebuilding our home, we felt that Whalen Restoration Services had the expertise to work with the insurance company and Bill could direct his competent crew to complete the task.  We never regretted our decision.  Not only did Whalen Restoration Services do a masterful job, Bill and his crew offered suggestions that at the time we reluctantly incorporated in the new plan, such as opening up the kitchen, dining room and living room, and redesigning some existing bedrooms to allow for a second MBR and bath on the first floor.  What a reading Bill had on how our preferences would change!

            Bill’s crew were hard workers, always eager to please, and considerate of what was left of our possessions.  We cannot say enough good things about them all.

Going the Extra Mile

Nowadays, mediocrity is the norm, or worse, seems everyone wants to just barely get by; to do as little as possible; maybe get the job done, maybe very rarely keep your word. Not doing work you would do as if it was for your own home.

Then, when all hope seems to fade (in people), a rare occurrence happens. You come across a person & company of excellence and integrity as Bill Whalen Restoration. What does it mean to be a person of integrity? A person or integrity goes the extra mile to do what is right. That is exactly what Bill Whalen did for me. He kept his word even when it was difficult.

I, on the other hand, had the misfortune of hiring a local roofer who had none. Due to his negligence, my roof was left undone and exposed to the elements, and my home suffered significant water damage.
